Laughlin, NV hosted the Best in the Desert UTV World Championship over the weekend. The desert racing series pitted many of the factory drivers for both Polaris and Can-Am, along with many of the top west coast independent teams.
Action started on Friday with the youth racing teams. Chase Mankin, George Llamosas and Travis Sallee took the podium in the 170 class. Dallas Gonzalez, Jacob Peter and Clayton Mickels topped the 250cc race. Finishing up the day, Dallas Gonzalez, Hailey Hein and Riley Hein were the top three racers in the 570 division.
The top long course UTVs lined up on the course on Saturday. Brett Comiskey in his BFGoodrich equipped Can-Am took first place for the day in the Pro Unlimited UTV class. Michael Isom placed second, followed by Jeramiah Drew in third.
Phil Blurton won his third championship in a row in the Turbo UTV class running BFGoodrich tires in his Can-Am. Polaris factory driver Mitch Gunthrie, JR placed second in his BFGoodrich Polaris. Jason Murray followed closely behind for a third place finish in his Can-Am with ITP tires.
BFGoodrich and Polaris had another winner in the Pro Production class, with Seth Quintero taking the top box on the day. Mike De Ley and Dan Kaatz rounded out the top three Pro Production cars.
Sunday finished out the weekend with some fast short course racing action. Colby Wemple topped the competition in the 1000 Production in class with his Polaris running BFGoodrich tires. Factory driver Shelby Anderson placed a close second in her Polaris running GBC tires and Sierra Romo placed third, also running her GBC equipped Polaris.

In the Production Turbo class, Cam-Am took the top spot thanks to Cody Miller’s Maxxis equipped X3. Kyle Chaney was only seconds behind in his Can Am wearing Maxxis. Jacob Carver got Polaris on the podium running ITP.
