Wyatt Wilson Pulls Off SRRS Bounty Win; Travis Skelton Takes Cup Win

Dirty Turtle Offroad Park hosted the second round of the Northern Division of the Southern Rock Racing Series in Bedford, KY April 27-28. DTOR had a packed house on Saturday while hosting their annual Birthday Bash and SRRS drew a great crowd of spectators.

Friday kicked off the weekend with the SRRS Cup Series with 21 UTVs competing. This series combines hill climbing with short course elements such as tight turns and other obstacles in a two heat race. Kentucky native Travis Skelton took the top of the box with two consistently fast runs to win first place for the day and gain additional points on the season points championship. Brandon Davis of Alabama had the fastest run in the last heat to secure a second place finish on the day. Tennessean Tim Cameron rounded out the podium in third place for the race with two solid runs and to remain points leader on the season.

With Cameron still the points leader on the season, Paul Wolff had two good runs on the day keeping him in second place for series points. Skelton gained ground with the win and is now only 37 points behind the series leader.

The UTV Bounty Series saw 11 buggies signed up for Saturday’s race. The Bounty Series is straight up hill killing action, with an especially brutal second hill. The course conditions had improved significantly, but the racers still had to contend with some wet conditions, along with loose soil, sharp rock and some man-made obstacles.

Wyatt Wilson took home the first place trophy with a fast second place run on hill one and absolutely smoked the competition with the fastest time of the day on the second hill run. Paul Wolff was the fastest on the first hill and his fourth place run on hill two gave him second place in the race. Travis Skelton grabbed his second trophy of the weekend with his third place finish on third and second best runs.

Saturday’s win bumps Wilson up to first place in series points at 186 total. Stephen Rogers had a tough day, but two completed runs were enough to keep him in second for the season championship run with 175 points. Skelton’s third place finish gave him a big jump on the points board as well to round out the top three for the season.

Southern Rock Racing competitors will have some time off to run other series and get their buggies back together after a tough season so far. The series will continue July 12-13 at Flat Nasty Offroad Park in Missouri.
